Every year, more and more families across the Yakima Valley choose Sozo FC — and this season proved it more than ever before.

Sozo FC Girls Make Their Mark in High School State Playoffs

Sat, 15 Nov 2025 22:12:13 GMT

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate a huge accomplishment for our Sozo FC girls—players from all three of our high school teams contributed to helping their respective school teams qualify for the Washington State Playoffs this season!

While these postseason runs were made in their school colors, the Sozo spirit was alive and well across the pitch. Representing different programs across the region, these athletes brought the same drive, discipline, and passion they show on the Sozo field to their high school squads—and their efforts paid off in a big way.

Three High School Teams. One Sozo Family.

From the first whistle to the final moments of their state playoff runs, these girls represented their schools with pride and left everything on the field. Behind the scenes, they also represented Sozo FC’s values—commitment, teamwork, and relentless work ethic.

It’s no coincidence that Sozo players played a role on every one of the high school teams that advanced to state. These girls bring more than talent to the game—they bring leadership, experience, and a deep understanding of what it means to play for something bigger than themselves.

Club + School = Full-Circle Development

At Sozo FC, we’re proud to support athletes as they grow in all aspects of their soccer journeys. Watching our players succeed not just in club play but also as key contributors on their high school teams is what it’s all about.

It shows the strength of the training, the character of the athletes, and the power of community support in helping these girls reach their goals.

To all the Sozo FC girls who made it to state with your school teams—congratulations! Your hard work, hustle, and heart continue to inspire, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.

Sozo FC Wraps First MLS NEXT Qualifiers with Pride and Purpose

Mon, 03 Nov 2025 04:52:56 GMT

This season marked a major milestone for Sozo FC as our Boys Gold teams competed in the MLS NEXT league—the highest level of youth soccer in the country. Stepping into this elite platform for the first time was no small task, and our teams recently wrapped up their journey in the MLS NEXT Qualifiers.

While none of our teams advanced this year, what we witnessed on the field was far more important than just results. We are incredibly proud of our players, coaches, and families for everything they poured into this first year. Competing at this level is an accomplishment in itself—and this is only the beginning.

Competing with the Best in the Nation

MLS NEXT represents the top tier of youth soccer in North America. It’s where the next generation of professional and collegiate athletes are forged. For Sozo FC to now be part of that system is a testament to the work being done right here in Yakima—developing players who are ready to step onto the national stage.

Our players faced off against some of the most competitive clubs in the region and held their own. From high-intensity matches to moments of true individual brilliance, our boys showed that Sozo belongs in this league.

A Year of Growth and Grit

Every training session, every away trip, every match taught our players what it means to play at the next level. They’ve grown in skill, composure, and character—and most importantly, they’ve proven that they’re capable of pushing themselves beyond limits.

They’ve learned to adapt to faster play, more tactical structure, and the physical and mental demands of elite competition. That kind of growth doesn’t happen overnight—and what they’ve achieved this year sets the foundation for even bigger steps ahead.

We couldn’t be prouder.

Gratitude to Our Players, Coaches & Families

This year wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible commitment from our players, the tireless work of our coaching staff, and the support of Sozo families who show up in the stands, on the sidelines, and behind the scenes.

The travel, the sacrifice, the long training days—every part of this journey was a full team effort, and it’s what continues to make Sozo FC more than just a club—it’s a family.

The Future is Bright

This was just year one.

We’ve set the standard, and now it’s time to build on it. With the experience gained this season, our players and coaches are already preparing for what's next. Our goal is not only to return stronger—but to continue opening doors for local athletes to compete at the highest levels of the game.

We believe in our players, we believe in our process, and we believe in the mission: to give Yakima athletes the visibility, training, and opportunity they deserve.

To our MLS NEXT players— thank you for making history this year . You’ve inspired the next wave, and we can’t wait to see where this journey takes you.

Representing Sozo FC with pride and purpose, these players showcased the hard work, discipline, and growth mindset that defines our club. Being selected for an ID camp is a major accomplishment—and a clear sign that our players are on the radar and ready to take that next step.

At Sozo FC, we’re committed to building more than just teams. We’re building individual futures—through competitive play, elite training environments, and character development on and off the pitch.

More Than a Moment—It’s a Movement

This success doesn’t happen by accident. It’s the result of years of development, supportive families, dedicated coaches, and a club culture that demands excellence while staying rooted in community.

We are proud of these boys and excited to keep creating opportunities like this for all our players. With more Sozo athletes showing up in high-level events across the country and beyond, the future is brighter than ever.

Building the Next Generation: Sozo Sports Events Prepare Yakima Athletes for Premier-Level Soccer

Thu, 30 Oct 2025 21:59:30 GMT

This summer at Sozo Sports Complex, it’s been all about putting in the work. From high-energy cardio & strength sessions to our striker vs. goalkeeper camp, young athletes across the Yakima Valley have been showing up, grinding, and taking their development seriously—and it shows.

These events are more than just training. They’re part of our long-term commitment to developing players who are ready to compete at the premier level with Sozo FC, and eventually, in college and beyond.

Strength, Conditioning & Mental Toughness

It all starts with the foundation.

Our Cardio & Strength Training Sessions have been packed with athletes focused on building the physical tools needed to succeed in high-level soccer: speed, stamina, strength, and mental grit. These sessions aren’t easy—but neither is the game at the next level.

Players worked through explosive sprint sets, core strength circuits, and endurance challenges while being pushed by coaches and motivated by their teammates. It's the kind of work that translates directly to performance when the pressure is on.

This is where players learn to go the extra mile—literally and mentally.

Strikers vs. Goalkeepers: Real Game Pressure

There’s no better way to grow than in competitive, game-like situations. Our Striker & Goalkeeper Camp delivered just that.

Strikers worked on sharp finishes, composure in front of goal, and reading the keeper under pressure. On the other end, goalkeepers focused on positioning, reaction time, and owning the box.

It was high-intensity, high-reward training that created real moments of growth—and a lot of fun. Seeing players challenge each other, celebrate wins, and bounce back from setbacks reminded us that we’re building more than skills—we’re building confidence.

Technical Sessions That Build Confidence

Our technical development sessions have also been in full swing, focusing on improving first touch, control under pressure, quick decision-making, and attacking movement. With fast-paced drills and coaching that demands focus, players are leaving every session sharper and more prepared for the demands of the RCL and other elite-level competition.

These sessions aren’t just teaching technique—they’re reinforcing what it means to train with purpose.

Preparing for the Premier Stage

At Sozo FC, we don’t just build teams—we develop players.

These events and training opportunities are a direct reflection of what we value most: hard work, quality coaching, a commitment to growth, and creating an environment where players can thrive on and off the field.

Whether an athlete is looking to earn a spot on a Sozo FC premier team, get ready for high school tryouts, or just push their game to the next level, Sozo Sports Complex is the place to train, grow, and lead.

Looking Ahead

With tryouts wrapped and the new season just around the corner, we’re proud of the work our players have already put in—and even more excited about what’s to come.

Sozo FC Goalie Camp Delivers Big for Yakima’s Next Generation of Keepers

Fri, 10 Oct 2025 05:16:32 GMT

The gloves were on, the saves were sharp, and the energy was off the charts — the Sozo FC Goalie Camp was a huge success! Designed specifically for current and aspiring goalkeepers, this focused training experience brought together dedicated athletes from across Yakima to level up their game and sharpen the skills that set elite keepers apart.

Led by specialized goalkeeper coaches and packed with intense drills, real-game scenarios, and one-on-one feedback, this camp was all about pushing players to the next level — and it delivered.

Focused Training, Big Impact

Goalkeepers play one of the most demanding positions on the field, and this camp was built to meet those demands head-on. Campers trained hard on all the fundamentals:

 Footwork

 Reaction speed

 Positioning

 Shot stopping

Communication and command of the box

What made the camp special wasn’t just the training — it was the focus on building confidence, leadership, and presence. Goalies don’t just defend the net; they lead from the back. That mindset was at the core of every session.

A Strong Showing from Sozo FC and Beyond

We were proud to welcome not only our own Sozo FC players, but also youth athletes from across the Yakima Valley who came ready to work and learn. The commitment and energy each player brought to the field made this camp one of the best we’ve hosted yet.

Seeing our young keepers improve in just a few days — making smarter decisions, communicating louder, and diving with confidence — reminded us why camps like these matter. They’re not just about reps and drills; they’re about building future leaders on the field.

Thank You to Our Coaches & Camp Families

A big thank you to our goalkeeper coaches who brought their experience, passion, and intensity to every session. Your work makes a lasting impact.

To the families who supported their athletes throughout the camp — thank you for showing up, cheering them on, and believing in the power of focused training and development.

More to Come at Sozo Sports Complex

This goalie camp is just one example of the high-level programming happening year-round at Sozo Sports Complex. Whether it’s summer camps, team training, or specialized clinics, we’re committed to helping athletes of all ages and skill levels grow — both on and off the field.

Interested in upcoming events, camps, or training opportunities?

To all our campers — thank you for showing up, working hard, and reminding us what Sozo FC is all about. We’re proud of the effort, and we’re excited to see you bring those skills to the field this season.

Hop Country Music Festival Needs Your Support — Let’s Keep It Local, Together

Sun, 31 Aug 2025 00:57:33 GMT

Over the last few years, the Hop Country Music Festival has grown into one of Yakima’s favorite events—a celebration of live music, community, and local culture right here at Sozo Sports Complex. Now, as we gear up for our third year on September 12 & 13, 2025, we’re asking for something we don’t often ask for:

We need your support.

This Festival Was Built for Yakima—By Yakima

Hop Country started with a simple idea: bring amazing music to our hometown while raising money to help local kids get on the field. What began as a grassroots effort has turned into an unforgettable experience, bringing thousands of people together for two days of country music, craft beer, food trucks, and good times.

But unlike big-name festivals backed by corporations and big budgets, Hop Country is 100% local. Every dollar raised goes right back into the Yakima community—specifically into Sozo Sports’ mission of providing sports opportunities and scholarships to local youth, regardless of financial background.

That’s what makes this festival different. This is your festival.

The Reality: Ticket Sales & Sponsorships Make It Happen

Hosting a music festival isn’t easy—and it isn’t cheap. From stage production and artist travel to security, logistics, and setup, every part of the experience is powered by months of planning, effort, and community resources.

The only way this works is with your help—through ticket sales, sponsorships, and sharing the event with others.

If you’ve ever been to Hop Country before, you know how special it is. If you haven’t yet, this is the year to show up, bring friends, and make it part of your summer tradition.

️ Tickets and event info available now at: www.hopcountry.fun

What’s at Stake

This isn’t just about music—it’s about keeping community-led events alive. It’s about showing that Yakima wants and deserves high-quality experiences right here at home. It’s about creating something sustainable that supports local kids, local businesses, and local families.

We’re not asking for handouts. We’re asking you to come have a good time—and know that by doing so, you’re making a difference.

Here’s How You Can Help:

✅ Buy your tickets early

✅ Tell your friends and family

✅ Share the event on social media

✅ Support the local sponsors and vendors who make it happen

This year’s Hop Country lineup is exciting, the atmosphere will be better than ever, and the impact will stretch far beyond the weekend.

Let’s rally together and show what Yakima is capable of when we support our own.

Thank you for believing in Hop Country, in Sozo, and in what we’re building together.

Let’s keep it going—for the music, for the community, and for the future.

We believe in breaking down financial and systemic barriers to ensure that no child is left on the sidelines. Grace and Esteban’s journey is proof that when young athletes are supported, they can go further than they ever imagined.

A Resounding Success: The Hop Country Music Festival Raises Funds for Youth Sports

Tue, 17 Sep 2024 23:39:03 GMT

This year's Hop Country Music Festival at Sozo Sports Complex was not only a celebration of music and community but also a significant contributor to a cause close to our hearts—enabling youth participation in sports. With a lineup that brought together some of the best talents in country music and an atmosphere filled with excitement, this festival was a resounding success.

Music, Merriment, and More

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Yakima, the festival attracted music lovers from all over Central Washington and beyond, who came together to enjoy two days of stellar performances. The festival's atmosphere was electric, with artists delivering performances that left the audience cheering for more. From soulful ballads to upbeat anthems, the variety of music ensured that there was something for everyone.

But the Hop Country Music Festival is more than just a musical event; it's a community gathering that brings together people of all ages to share in the joy of music and to support a great cause. The sense of community was palpable, with festival-goers not only enjoying the music but also participating in various other activities offered at the venue.

Supporting Youth Sports

One of the most impactful aspects of the festival was its role in supporting youth sports programs at Sozo Sports Complex. The funds raised during the festival are directly channeled into initiatives that help put kids on the field, particularly those who might not otherwise afford to participate in sports.

This contribution is vital in fostering a healthy and active lifestyle among the youth of Yakima and ensuring that no child is left on the sidelines. Through sports, young individuals learn invaluable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. By supporting the Hop Country Music Festival, attendees not only enjoyed a fantastic weekend of music but also played a part in nurturing the next generation of athletes.

A Look Ahead

With the overwhelming success of this year’s event, plans are already underway to make next year's Hop Country Music Festival even more memorable. We are committed to growing the festival, enhancing the experience for attendees, and increasing our support for youth sports programs.

For more information about the festival and updates on next year’s event, visit www.hopcountry.fun. Stay tuned for early bird tickets, artist lineups, and other exciting news as we prepare to bring you another spectacular event.

Heartfelt Thanks

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who participated in and supported this year’s Hop Country Music Festival. Sozo FC: The Fastest Growing Premier Soccer Club in Central Washington

Mon, 24 Apr 2023 20:21:20 GMT

Sozo FC is quickly gaining a reputation as the premier soccer club in central Washington. With its exceptional coaching staff, focus on player development, and competitive leagues, Sozo FC is helping to create unmatched soccer athletes that compete against the best teams in the region. In this blog post, we will take a closer look at why Sozo FC is the fastest growing premier soccer club in central Washington.

Unmatched Coaching Staff

Sozo FC's coaching staff is a major factor in its success. The club's coaches have extensive experience and knowledge of the game, having played and coached at the highest levels. They bring their expertise and passion for soccer to the training field, providing players with the skills and knowledge they need to excel.

Focus on Player Development

At Sozo FC, player development is a top priority. The club offers a range of youth soccer programs and training programs that are tailored to each player's skill level and age. The programs are designed to develop players' technical skills, tactical awareness, and physical abilities. With a focus on developing the whole player, Sozo FC ensures that its athletes are well-rounded and ready to compete at the highest levels.

Competitive Leagues

Sozo FC competes in the most competitive regional club league in central Washington, which outperforms both the PSPL and US Club teams. This league offers a higher level of competition that challenges players and helps them to reach their maximum potential. Players can only obtain their maximum potential by having the appropriate competitive challenges, and Sozo FC provides exactly that.

Not a Select League

Unlike select leagues, where players are chosen for their ability to win games rather than their ability to develop as soccer players, Sozo FC operates like a premier club. The club's coaches and staff focus on developing each player's skills and abilities, rather than just winning games. This approach creates well-rounded, confident players who are equipped to compete at the highest levels.

Sozo FC is the fastest growing premier soccer club in central Washington, and for good reason. With its exceptional coaching staff, focus on player development, and competitive leagues, Sozo FC is helping to create unmatched soccer athletes. The club's commitment to player development and its approach to competition are key factors in its success. Whether you are a youth soccer player or a parent looking for the best soccer club for your child, Sozo FC is the premier choice in central Washington.
